LeBron James surpassed $1 billion in career earnings on Thursday (July 22) after Sportico.com calculated his on and off-court income. King James is the first NBA player to pass the one billion dollar earnings mark while still being an active player on the court.

According to The Bleacher Report, the Lakers superstar earned $700 million off the court on top of his $330 million NBA salary. He also recently added the success of Space Jam: A New Legacy, which snagged the weekend’s top spot in movies, to his income.

He also has endorsements from Nike, Coca-Cola, Beats By Dre, Blaze Pizza, and 2K Sports. On top of those deals, he has his own shoe line and was named by Forbes as the fifth-highest paid athlete in 2020.

NBA legend Michael Jordan also passed the $1 billion mark, but did so after retiring from the game.

James’ on-court accolades have been rolling in since his first NBA season in 2003. Since then, he’s been named an All-Star 17 times, won four NBA MVP Awards and four NBA Championships.

In 2018, James opened the I Promise School in his hometown of Akron, Ohio which is supported by the LeBron James Family Foundation.
