Joycelyn Savage, the woman who claimed to be R. Kelly's fiancée, has responded to her parents' recent comments that she's been brainwashed by the singer.
On Sunday, June 22, Savage posted a video in which she denies being Kelly's "victim" or a "sex slave." The 29-year-old, who's turning 30 next month, said she's been in a relationship with Kelly for the past 10 years and asked for his hand in marriage in 2022. Savage said she's willingly visited the imprisoned singer every week for the past six years and plans to have a family with him.
"I just wanted to come out here and let you all know to please do not believe the lies that my mother and father are coming out here saying about me and Robert," she said while wearing an R. Kelly t-shirt. "I am not held against my will. I am not a sex slave. I am not brainwashed or any of those crazy lies that were told on me. I just want Robert to get the righteous justice that he deserves because he deserves to be free. Enough is enough. I'm tired and he's tired as well."
Joycelyn's parents, Jonjelyn and Timothy Savage, previously said they haven't seen or heard from their daughter in six years. They claimed they had to reach out to Kelly's camp just to get an update on Joycelyn's well-being. Mr. Savage said he recently tried to reach out when his father, Joycelyn's grandfather, passed away and didn't hear back. All they've asked for is to see and hear their daughter directly.
Even after seeing Joycelyn's recent video, her parents claimed it was AI-generated and played into the alleged "scripted" conversations they've had with her in the past. It's clear that the family's relationship with Joycelyn is broken, but her parents are still fighting to see their daughter, no matter how grown she is.
R. Kelly is currently serving a 30-year sentence after he was convicted of racketeering and sex trafficking in 2021. He recently filed for an emergency release due to an alleged murder-for-hire plot by prison officials. He was even hospitalized after he claimed a prison employee gave him too much of his medication, which led to an overdose.
