The suspect accused of shooting New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd was reportedly charged on Tuesday (December 9) law enforcement sources confirmed to the New York Post.
Frederick Green, 20, was reportedly picked up in Buffalo and charged with attempted murder, as well as assault and criminal possession, after his vehicle, a gray Mercedes-Benz registered under his girlfriend's name, was tracked. Green was taken to the Midtown South Precinct in Manhattan and is scheduled to appear in criminal court for an arraignment.
A video shared by the @Crime_In_NYC X account showed the scuffle and gunshots are heard in the background. Boyd, 29, was rushed to Bellevue Hospital and listed initially reported to be in critical has since recovered and been released.
The cornerback was reported to have had a bullet lodged in his lungs at the time of his hospitalization, according to sources.
Boyd signed a one-year contract with the Jets this past offseason and was placed on injured reserve on August 18. The former University of Texas standout was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the seventh-round of the 2019 NFL Draft and spent his first four NFL seasons with the franchise before stints with the Arizona Cardinals (2023) and Houston Texans (2023-2024).
