In June, PlayStation had huge announcements regarding PS5 accessories and peripherals launching this holiday season at their ‘Future of Gaming’ digital event. Gamers got a first look at the PS5 design, trailers to some of the most anticipated games, and more. However, given all it’s new features, many were wondering what this means for their existing PlayStation4 peripherals. Today, PlayStation released a brief FAQ that will answer a lot of our questions!
One of the main questions gamers asked, was which PS4 accessories will be compatible with the next-gen system? The following PS4 peripherals will be compatible with PS5:
- Specialty peripherals, such as officially licensed racing wheels, arcade sticks, and flight sticks, will work with PS5 games and supported PS4 games.
- The Platinum and Gold Wireless Headsets, as well as third-party headsets that connect via USB port or audio jack, will work on PS5 (the headset companion app is not compatible with PS5).
- The DualShock 4 wireless controller and PlayStation officially licensed third-party gamepad controllers will work with supported PS4 games.
- Both the PS Move Motion Controllers and the PlayStation VR Aim Controller will work with supported PS VR games on PS5.
- PlayStation Camera will work with PS5 for playing supported PS VR games.
While various accessories will work with PS5 games, many gamers were disappointed to hear that he DualShock 4 controller is not one of them. Check out some of the reactions below!
